Heleen has an eclectic approach to therapy with elements of CBT, DBT, EFT, IFS, SFT, MI, and other modalities. She has experience working with various populations including people struggling with substance use, incarcerated individuals, and families in crisis.
During her graduate school internship, Heleen found a passion for working with adolescents experiencing mental health challenges and has since assisted many clients on their journey to hope and wellness. She loves to engage the inherent energetic, creative, and rebellious nature of teens to help them discover their strengths and abilities.
For many clients, Heleen focuses on healing the mind-body connection through mindfulness practice and somatic experience. Heleen values helping families build connection and believes that while we can’t avoid life’s dilemmas, we can learn to thrive alongside difficulty with peace and joy.
Heleen has a bachelor's degree from the University of Florida and earned her master's degree in clinical social work from Boston University. She loves doing anything outdoors such as biking, hiking, camping, and exploring while living in a busy house with four teenagers, two dogs, and a snake.
